Why Glasgow chooses M.F Scaffold

We’ve spent over 25 years putting up scaffolding for homeowners, builders, roofers and businesses. This site covers everything we do for customers in Glasgow: home and roof scaffolding for houses and tenements, with temporary roofs when the roof comes off, and commercial scaffolding for shops, offices, building sites and industry, including scaffold inspections.

Every scaffold is planned with the people who will work from it, built to SG4 and TG20 guidance and checked every week it’s in use. Prices are clear from the start, with no hidden costs, and you always know who to call.

One team from survey to strike

One team looks after the whole job, so the scaffold that was planned is the scaffold that gets built and checked.

  • Design

We look at the building, the ground, the weight to be carried and how people get on and off, then plan to suit, with a bespoke design where the job goes beyond standard guidance.

What our customers say

5.0

out of 5 from 19 reviews on Google

Reviews are summarised from the originals on Google and Trustpilot. Google score checked October 2026.

  • Built just how I wanted it and finished inside the timescale I was given. Once the work was done they stripped it and left the ground as they found it. Their price came in well under the other scaffold quotes I had.

  • I’ve used Mark’s team for a good while now and they’ve been excellent every time. Always on time, always a high standard of work, and I’ll keep using them.

    Derek M. Google review

  • The crew turned up on time and got started straight away. Professional throughout, they kept us informed and treated health and safety as a priority.

Scaffolding questions, answered

If your question isn’t here, give us a call and we’ll talk it through.

How much does scaffolding cost in Glasgow?

Each scaffold is priced for its job. What matters most is how high and how long it is, the number of weeks it stays up, how easy the building is to reach and whether the council must approve a pavement scaffold. Tell us what the work is and where, and we will send a free quote with no hidden costs.

Do you cover the whole of Glasgow?

Yes. We work across the city, from the city centre and West End to the Southside and East End, and in the towns around it, including Paisley, Clydebank, Bearsden, East Kilbride, Hamilton and Cumbernauld. Our coverage page lists every area.

Is a council permit needed for scaffolding on a Glasgow street?

Yes, if any of the scaffold will stand on a public pavement or road. Within the city boundary Glasgow City Council grants it; elsewhere it is the local council. Mention the pavement in your enquiry and we’ll build the permission into the start date.

Do you scaffold tenements?

Yes. Sandstone tenements make up a big part of Glasgow’s housing, and we scaffold front elevations from the pavement and back elevations from the back court, for roofs, chimney heads, stonework and windows. We can price for individual owners or for a factor arranging common repairs.

How often is your scaffolding inspected?

Each scaffold is checked before anyone works from it, at least weekly while it is in use and again after a storm, as the Work at Height Regulations 2005 require. Every inspection is written up.

Are you accredited?

Yes. M.F Scaffold and Inspection Limited is CHAS accredited and listed on the SSIP register as an approved contractor (CDM) for scaffolding supply and fix, and our scaffolds are built to the industry’s SG4 and TG20 guidance.

Can you put a temporary roof over my building?

Yes. A temporary roof is built on the scaffold and sheeted to keep the rain off while the roof below is open, which is well worth considering given how often it rains in Glasgow.

Do you work on commercial and industrial sites?

Yes. As well as homes, we scaffold shops, offices, schools, construction sites and industrial plant, including tanks, silos, flue stacks and pipework, and we inspect scaffolds built by other companies.
